OK, which version of MaraDNS are you using?  Give us the output of the
following:

./maradns --version

Also, give us the answer of a query like this for a DNS name you actually
serve, e.g.:

askmara -v A{domain.com}. {127.0.0.4} | grep Recurs

Replace {domain.com} with the name of a domain name you serve with MaraDNS;
replace {127.0.0.4} with the IP of your MaraDNS server.
