Status argument in /etc/init.d/maradns doesn't exist

It might be worth it to include a version of this script in the
MaraDNS mainline, so the next person with this particular problem can
just grab the startup script from the build/ directory and use it. I
will have to ask Kai if this script has a BSD-compatible license
sometime this week.
Right now, the included startup script is completely different, and
doesn't support "status"
